Why AI Study Mate?
AI Study Mate is built on a simple principle: AI can assist the research process, but it should not replace the researcher's judgement.
Johann's work combines decades of practical business leadership with doctoral research into business ethics, artificial intelligence and blockchain. His more recent research and writing examine what responsible human-AI collaboration looks like in practice, particularly for postgraduate researchers and higher education.
The aim is not to promote AI as a shortcut. It is to explore how it can be used thoughtfully, transparently and responsibly.

About Dr Johann Pieterse
Johann Pieterse is a researcher, author and strategic business adviser whose career spans more than 50 years of executive leadership, governance, business transformation and academic research.
He holds two Doctorates in Business Administration. His first, completed through Business School Netherlands in 2022, examined business ethics in the sharing economy. His second, completed through GlobalNxt University, Malaysia in 2026, developed a dual business model framework for the integration of artificial intelligence and blockchain in online accommodation.
In January 2026, he established AI Study Mate to explore responsible human-AI collaboration within higher education and research. His current work focuses on ethical AI, academic integrity, human judgement and the responsible use of emerging technologies.
